Craziness is Afoot
A week ago a few things happened that we're just hard to comprehend. While making preparations for last Thursday's road trip, I was at the store the night before stocking up on snacks when the wife called saying she was just rear ended and they were probably going to run! She followed them (meanwhile snapping pics with her phone) forcing them to pull over. She exchanged info and waited for me to show up. I had to ditch all my goodies, when I get there a few minutes later the car wasn't that badly damaged, it was more of a rub than a hit! But I'm glad I went cause she was a bit frazzled, so we head home after decompressing. Oddly enough we get home to a pretty sad scene, a doggie had gotten hit in front of our house, the dog's owner and a couple girls who walked upon this scene were all in the middle of the street to keep it from getting hit again. It was already passed, probably from a broken neck, so we offered to help them get the dog out of the street. I had to wait, as the owner (a girl) was still pretty emotional and was hesitant to move it. Trying to be as sensitive as I could (I would've just scooped up the dog with a shovel from the get go) I let them process that getting her dog and herself out of the middle of the street ASAP is the safe thing to do. I wrapped up her dog (a chihuahua) and carried her off to the side! Now the next battle was getting them to either take it home for burial or take it to a vet. I was super patient, but it must've took like an hour to resolve all of this, and this whole time I was being attacked by mosquitos. By this time the girl's mom was there, and they still to distraught to take it home. We volunteered to keep it and either take it in, or hold on to it until they were ready! Luckily they came back a few hours later, cause the pound didn't wanna take it unless the registered owner was there to do the transfer. By this time I had made a little coffin out of the a recently purchased toaster box. Why am talking about all this...because this showed up yesterday in appreciation of our kindness!!!!
